In Prayagraj, Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati has addressed the allegations of sexual abuse involving minors. He has dismissed the claims as completely baseless and has filed a case against the accuser, Ashutosh Brahmachari, under Section 22 of the POCSO Act. The Shankaracharya emphasized that the law allows for action against those who file false cases.
Clarification from Shankaracharya Regarding the Allegations
Swami Avimukteshwaranand asserted that the two boys mentioned in the abuse allegations had been living with Ashutosh Brahmachari for an extended period. He stated that if medical reports confirm any wrongdoing involving the children, the responsibility lies with the individual who had custody of them. The Swami clarified that he had no contact with these children and they had never visited his Gurukul.
Claims of a Conspiracy
Swami Avimukteshwaranand accused criminals in Uttar Pradesh of attempting to influence the investigation. He referenced a WhatsApp group that he claims is spreading deliberate misinformation against him. He mentioned that many saints and sages support him, but they are hesitant to come forward due to fear of the government and criminals.
Denial of Claims by a Woman Regarding the Math
The Shankaracharya also refuted claims made by a woman regarding the Shri Vidya Math, who alleged the presence of amenities like a lift and swimming pool. He categorically rejected these accusations, stating that the woman's family was associated with the Math, but after being asked to vacate, she began making false statements out of anger.
