Shalini Singh Visits Workers in Haroula Village

In the midst of ongoing protests by workers in Noida, Shalini Singh, daughter of former MP Brijbhushan Sharan Singh, visited Haroula village. During her visit, she met with workers employed in various companies, particularly focusing on female employees, to listen to their concerns and promised to seek solutions.

Concerns Raised by Workers

Shalini Singh observed the living conditions of ten families sharing ten rooms and a single bathroom, emphasizing the need to liberate the country from its current economic challenges. Female workers expressed their grievances, stating that they often lack accurate information regarding their salaries, provident fund, and ESIC deductions, which are issued in their names. They also highlighted the distress caused by the contracting system.

What Workers Reported

• Workers reported that during a recent two-day strike, their wages were deducted while they stayed home for safety, which they deemed completely unjust.
• They alleged that they do not receive fair overtime pay and are often denied leave when needed. Additionally, they face double deductions for unnotified absences, leading to financial exploitation.
• Amid rising inflation, with increasing gas cylinder prices and school fees, their salaries have only seen a meager increase of 1000 to 1500 rupees over the past 9-10 years, making it extremely difficult to support their families.
• Moreover, they shared serious issues such as receiving low-quality food in the company canteen, the necessity of walking long distances to reach their workplaces, and not being granted leave even when ill.

Shalini Singh's Response

Shalini Singh stated that the situation represents a clear violation of workers' rights. She urged the administration and the relevant companies to take immediate notice of the workers' issues and work towards resolving them.
