Jaipur, April 3, 2026 – A sudden change in weather struck Rajasthan on Thursday evening, leading to a chaotic situation across the state due to strong winds, rain, and hail. Significant damage has been reported in districts including Jaipur, Ajmer, Beawar, Karauli, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Kota, Bhilwara, Sikar, and Jhunjhunu.
Jaipur experienced intense winds after 5:30 PM, accompanied by hailstones that caused water accumulation on roads, disrupting traffic. Power outages were reported in several areas.
Ajmer-Beawar faced the brunt of the storm, with numerous trees uprooted, tin roofs blown away, and crops in fields severely damaged.
Karauli district also suffered extensive damage, with heavy rain accompanying the storm in the city and surrounding villages. Several trees fell onto roads, tin roofs were displaced, and reports indicated that walls of some mud houses collapsed. Local farmers noted significant damage to mustard and wheat crops in their fields.
Jodhpur saw a dust storm along with light rain, while Udaipur experienced hail and heavy rainfall. In Kota and Bhilwara, the storm led to waterlogging due to heavy rain. Strong winds in Sikar-Jhunjhunu also caused damage to trees.
Weather Department Alert The weather department has issued a yellow alert for several districts in Rajasthan. There is a possibility of storms, rain, and hail in Jaipur, Ajmer, Karauli, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Kota, and other eastern and southern districts over the next 24 hours.
Public Reaction Residents shared videos of the hail and storm on social media, expressing concern over the heavy losses faced by farmers. Authorities have urged residents in all districts to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to protect their crops.
So far, there have been no reports of injuries, but significant damage to property and crops has been noted.
