Current Weather Conditions and Alerts

Heavy rainfall has been causing significant disruptions in various regions of India, with Himachal Pradesh reporting at least 43 fatalities linked to rain-related incidents. The adverse weather has led to cloudbursts, flash floods, and landslides, severely impacting daily life. In response, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for several states, including Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.

On Friday, July 4, 2025, many areas experienced waterlogging and major traffic disruptions as the monsoon made its presence felt. The humid conditions have led to discomfort for many residents, prompting the issuance of a yellow alert for rain in Delhi over the next two days. Additionally, warnings have been issued for heavy rainfall in Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh from July 5 to 10, as well as in Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, and Odisha from July 5 to 7, and in Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim from July 7 to 9. The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are also expected to experience heavy rains on July 6.

Initially welcomed by many, the monsoon showers have turned into a source of distress. The Met Department has indicated that the southwest monsoon will remain active over the western Himalayan region and the plains for the next week. Other affected areas include Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, and West Uttar Pradesh.

Residents are urged to exercise caution and take necessary precautions to safeguard themselves from rain-related hazards. It is advisable to stay updated with the latest weather bulletins from the IMD, seek shelter in safe locations, avoid unnecessary travel, and steer clear of conductive objects during this period.
