Severe Weather Alert: Heavy Rain and Heat Waves Predicted Across India

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted a significant spell of rain and thunderstorms impacting various states in the upcoming days. An alert has been issued for heavy rainfall in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, and Mahe from June 10 to June 13. Additionally, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema, and Interior Karnataka are expected to experience heavy rain from June 11 to June 13.
Today, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands may also face intense downpours. The IMD has indicated that light to moderate rainfall will persist in northeast India over the next week. Other regions likely to see renewed rainfall include Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya from June 10 to June 13; Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura from June 11 to June 13; Madhya Pradesh on June 8; Vidarbha until June 9; and Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands from June 8 to June 11. Gangetic West Bengal is expected to receive rain on June 11, while Bihar and Jharkhand will see rainfall from June 10 to June 13 and June 10 and 11, respectively.
Moreover, a heat wave warning has been issued for Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi, as well as West Uttar Pradesh from June 9 to June 11. East Uttar Pradesh and northern Madhya Pradesh are also under alert for heat on June 9 and 10, while West Rajasthan will experience high temperatures from June 8 to June 11. Hot and humid conditions are anticipated in Odisha from June 7 to June 9, along with Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal on June 8.
