Shimla: Continuous rainfall in various regions of Himachal Pradesh has led to significant disruptions and damage throughout the state.
In just the past 24 hours, several areas experienced heavy rainfall, with Murari Devi recording the highest at 68.2 mm. Other notable rainfall amounts included Baggi (49.6 mm), Pandoh (45 mm), Slappar (42.1 mm), Bilaspur (40.2 mm), Sundernagar (38.5 mm), Ghagas (38 mm), Mandi (35.8 mm), and Jubbarhatti (34 mm).
As of 2 PM on Friday (July 11, 2025), the aftermath of cloudbursts, landslides, and flash floods has left 223 roads blocked, severely affecting transportation. Additionally, 151 electricity transformers and 812 water supply systems have been disrupted.
The Mandi district has been particularly hard hit, with 166 roads closed, 143 power transformers out of service, and 204 water supply schemes affected. In the Kangra district, areas such as Dharamshala, Nurpur, and Dehra have seen 603 water supply projects impacted.
Casualties and Damage Report
34 Individuals Missing
The ongoing monsoon season, which commenced on June 20, has resulted in tragic consequences. To date, 91 individuals have lost their lives due to rain-related incidents, including landslides and flooding. Additionally, 131 people have sustained injuries, and over 34 individuals are currently reported missing.
Property and infrastructure have also faced extensive damage, with 1,584 houses and shops either partially or completely destroyed. Furthermore, 880 cowsheds have been impacted, and 885 livestock deaths have been reported. The estimated financial loss has surpassed Rs 7,499.72 crore, with Mandi district bearing the brunt of the damage.
Moreover, the monsoon season has also led to 36 fatalities from road accidents across the state, highlighting the perilous travel conditions amid the ongoing weather crisis.

Rain Expected for the Next Week; Orange Alert Issued for July 16
The Meteorological Centre in Shimla has predicted continued rainfall across Himachal Pradesh for the upcoming week. An orange alert has been issued for July 16, indicating the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in several areas. Authorities are advising residents, especially those in vulnerable regions, to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary travel.
In Shimla, a large deodar tree fell on the Khalini-Tutikandi bypass near Fagli on Friday morning. Fortunately, there were no injuries, although passing vehicles narrowly avoided disaster. This incident caused significant traffic disruptions until clearance operations were completed.
Officials remain on high alert as rescue and relief efforts continue in the affected districts. The state government has urged residents to stay informed about weather updates and adhere to safety advisories.
