Severe Rainfall Causes Flooding in Rajasthan Districts
Heavy Rainfall Triggers Flood-Like Conditions
Rajasthan is experiencing continuous heavy rainfall across several districts, leading to water accumulation in low-lying areas and creating flood-like situations. The meteorological department has issued a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall in multiple districts on Wednesday.
In the state capital, Jaipur, intermittent rain has been ongoing since morning. According to the Jaipur weather center, numerous locations in eastern Rajasthan recorded heavy to extremely heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours.
The highest rainfall was recorded in Khandar (Sawai Madhopur) at 230.0 millimeters. Other significant rainfall amounts include 22 centimeters in Malarana Dungar, 17 centimeters in Niwai (Tonk), 16 centimeters in Shahabad (Baran), 11 centimeters in Peepalda (Kota), 10 centimeters in Dausa, and 10 centimeters in Manohar Thana (Jhalawar).
On Wednesday, the meteorological department issued a red alert for Baran, Bundi, Chittorgarh, Jhalawar, Kota, and Pratapgarh due to the forecast of extremely heavy rainfall. Additionally, a yellow alert has been issued for over a dozen districts, including Ajmer, Alwar, Banswara, Bharatpur, and Jaipur, indicating heavy rainfall.
The persistent rain in Jaipur has led to waterlogging in various areas, causing inconvenience to residents. In light of the heavy rainfall, schools in several districts have declared holidays.
The weather department has indicated that heavy rainfall will continue in the state. On Wednesday and Thursday, heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is expected in Bharatpur, Jaipur, and Ajmer divisions, while moderate to heavy rainfall is anticipated in parts of the Bikaner division.
The moderate to heavy rainfall is expected to persist in some areas of Bikaner, Ajmer, Jaipur, and Bharatpur divisions until August 1. However, a decrease in heavy rainfall activities is forecasted from August 2.
