Monsoon Activity Overview
India has been experiencing significant monsoon activity, with heavy to very heavy rainfall reported in various states such as Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and coastal regions from July 17 to July 23.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warnings for extremely heavy rainfall in parts of Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Gangetic West Bengal. Isolated heavy to very heavy showers are expected to persist in central, eastern, southern, and northwestern areas over the next few days. Additionally, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds are forecasted in several states, while Delhi is witnessing a rise in maximum temperatures, despite otherwise normal weather conditions.
East & Central India Forecast
Isolated areas in Odisha are likely to experience extremely heavy rainfall on July 24 and 25, while Chhattisgarh is expected to see similar conditions on July 25 and 26. Madhya Pradesh may face heavy rainfall on July 26 and 27, and Vidarbha along with Gangetic West Bengal on July 25.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is anticipated over Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, and Jharkhand from July 24 to 28, with isolated heavy rainfall expected in Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim during July 24-27.
Light to moderate rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds (reaching speeds of 30-40 km/h), is likely across the region over the next week, with moderate lightning expected in Bihar on July 24 and 25.
South Peninsular India Weather Update
Coastal Karnataka is predicted to experience extremely heavy rainfall on July 24. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is also expected in parts of Kerala, Mahe, and both Coastal and South Interior Karnataka from July 24 to 29. Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and North Interior Karnataka may see isolated heavy rain from July 24 to 27, with Telangana and Coastal Andhra Pradesh likely to experience very heavy rainfall on July 24 and 25.
Strong surface winds (up to 40-50 km/h) are anticipated over South Peninsular India in the coming five days. Light to moderate rainfall is expected across Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep, Karnataka, Rayalaseema, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Telangana throughout the next week.
Northwest India Rainfall Predictions
Isolated very heavy rainfall is forecasted for East Rajasthan on July 27 and 28, and West Uttar Pradesh on July 28. Jammu and Kashmir may see isolated heavy rainfall on July 29 and 30, while Himachal Pradesh and East Rajasthan are expected to receive rain from July 26 to 30. Uttarakhand is likely to experience rainfall from July 24 to 30, with Punjab and Haryana expecting rain on July 27 and 28, and West Uttar Pradesh from July 25 to 30.
Light to moderate rainfall, along with thunderstorms and lightning, is anticipated over the Western Himalayan region and some plains in the upcoming week.

Delhi has recorded a notable increase in maximum temperatures, with minimal change in minimum temperatures over the past 24 hours. Minimum temperatures ranged from 23-26°C, while maximum temperatures were between 35-36°C. The minimum temperatures are slightly below normal by 1-3°C, and maximum temperatures are near normal. Westerly winds have been observed, with speeds reaching up to 15 km/h and gusting to 30 km/h.
