Landslide Devastates Gyalshing District

Gangtok: A significant landslide, triggered by persistent heavy rainfall, has wreaked havoc in the Gyalshing district of Sikkim, according to officials on Friday.

The incident took place late Thursday night, leading to severe destruction in Rimbi village.

Numerous structures, including government housing, were either completely destroyed or severely impacted, officials reported.

Fortunately, there were no casualties, they confirmed.

Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang expressed his concern regarding the situation in Rimbi, emphasizing that the safety and welfare of the affected individuals are the government's primary focus.

Tamang instructed local authorities to stay vigilant, monitor the situation closely, and implement all necessary precautions to safeguard residents.

He urged those in the impacted areas to remain alert during the ongoing heavy rains, adhere to the guidelines provided by officials, and support each other.

The state government is committed to taking all essential measures to protect its citizens and manage the crisis in Rimbi.
