Severe Heatwave Hits Delhi: Residents Urged to Stay Cautious

Recently, residents of Delhi have been grappling with extreme heat, making it challenging for many to step outside. The soaring temperatures have left people feeling quite uncomfortable. In response, the meteorological department has issued a warning for the city.
According to the weather department, the maximum temperature recorded reached 43.4 degrees Celsius. In light of the severe heat, an orange alert has been declared for Delhi, advising the public to exercise increased caution. The minimum temperature during this period was noted at 27.6 degrees, with humidity levels fluctuating between 25 to 48 percent, exacerbating the discomfort.
No Immediate Relief in Sight
The weather department has indicated that the intense heatwave is expected to persist in Delhi. This situation is also characterized by heat stress, with no respite anticipated until at least June 12. Temperatures could soar to 44 degrees during this time, accompanied by winds blowing at speeds of 20 to 30 kilometers per hour. Experts warn that relief from the heat is not forthcoming.
For the second consecutive night, residents are enduring high temperatures, leading to significant discomfort. Health professionals have advised vulnerable groups, including the elderly, children, and individuals with respiratory or heart conditions, to take necessary precautions. The risk of heatstroke and dehydration is notably heightened during this period.
