Flight Operations Affected by Low Visibility

Due to extremely low visibility conditions, flight operations at Delhi Airport have faced significant disruptions, leading to numerous cancellations by airlines. An official from Delhi International Airport Limited reported that 131 flights were canceled as a result of dense fog. So far, 52 departures and 79 arrivals have been scrapped due to the poor visibility.

Impact on Airline Operations

The northern regions of India, including Delhi, which serves as a major hub for Air India, frequently experience such weather conditions that can severely impact flight schedules across the airline network, resulting in widespread delays and cancellations. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has officially declared the period from December 10 to February 10 as the winter fog season.

IndiGo Cancels 113 Flights

In a related development, IndiGo announced the cancellation of 113 flights at Delhi Airport on Tuesday due to disruptions caused by adverse weather. The airline further stated that it would not operate 42 flights on Wednesday due to the ongoing poor weather conditions. As winter sets in, dense fog is expected to blanket northern India during early mornings, occasionally slowing down flight operations. IndiGo reassured passengers via a post on social media, stating, 'Our teams are fully prepared and closely monitoring the weather conditions. We are making thoughtful adjustments on the ground wherever possible to minimize inconvenience and ensure a comfortable waiting time.'
