Severe Cold and Dense Fog Alert Issued for Uttar Pradesh

A red alert has been issued for several regions in Uttar Pradesh due to intense cold and thick fog, with forecasts indicating that adverse weather conditions are expected to persist for the next two days. This information was provided by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The meteorological center in Lucknow reported that dense fog has enveloped large areas of the state over the past 24 hours, leading to a significant drop in visibility across various districts. According to the statement, very dense fog was observed at Agra Airport, Prayagraj, Kanpur (Airport), Bareilly, Jhansi, and several other locations, where visibility fell below 50 meters.
The IMD noted that cold weather continues to affect many districts, particularly in western, central, and eastern Uttar Pradesh. The weather department has warned that dense to very dense fog is expected to persist during late night and morning hours in several districts until December 22, while extreme cold conditions may last in some areas until December 24.
Dense Fog Forecast
According to the IMD, by the morning of December 21, dense to very dense fog is likely to blanket Delhi, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Chandigarh, western Uttar Pradesh, northern Madhya Pradesh, and Bihar, with similar conditions expected in eastern Uttar Pradesh until December 22. Areas in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and parts of Uttar Pradesh may experience similar weather again on December 24 and 25.
Additionally, dense fog is anticipated in some regions of northeastern India until December 24, while Himachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and northern Odisha will be affected until December 21. The weather conditions are expected to remain similar in Haryana, Chandigarh, and western Uttar Pradesh until December 23, in Bihar on December 21 and 22, in eastern Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan on December 22 and 23, and in Uttarakhand and Punjab on December 23.
