Air Quality Deteriorates in the Capital

On Sunday morning, the air quality in the national capital was classified as 'very poor,' with an overall Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 392, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).


As per the CPCB's 'Sameer' app, 19 monitoring stations across the city reported air quality levels in the 'severe' category. Among these, Anand Vihar recorded the worst air quality at 444, while the other stations remained in the 'very poor' range.


According to CPCB standards, the AQI is categorized as follows: 0-50 is 'good,' 51-100 is 'satisfactory,' 101-200 is 'moderate,' 201-300 is 'poor,' 301-400 is 'very poor,' and 401-500 is 'severe.'


The India Meteorological Department noted that the minimum temperature was recorded at 6.3 degrees Celsius, which is 0.5 degrees below normal. At 8:30 AM, the humidity level was reported at 71 percent. The department also indicated that the maximum temperature is expected to be around 21 degrees Celsius, with mostly clear skies anticipated.
