Seven Foreign Nationals Arrested in India for Alleged Terrorist Conspiracy

Arrests Made Under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has detained seven foreign nationals on suspicions of plotting terrorist activities against India. Reports indicate that six of the detainees are from Ukraine, while one hails from the United States.

These arrests occurred last week in various cities, including Delhi, Kolkata, and Lucknow, as the individuals were attempting to exit the country.

According to officials, the accused had entered India with valid visas but traveled to Mizoram without the necessary restricted area permit. They allegedly crossed into Myanmar, where they reportedly interacted with ethnic groups that are antagonistic towards India.

In Mizoram, it is claimed that the group received drone deliveries from Europe, raising significant concerns among authorities.

Following their arrest, the individuals were presented before a magistrate on Saturday, who ordered them to be held in custody for three days. This custody has since been extended by an additional 11 days, lasting until March 27.

The NIA has expressed serious concerns regarding the individuals' activities, suggesting that their movements posed a potential threat to national security.
