In a shocking incident in Mau district, Uttar Pradesh, a 32-year-old snack food businessman was severely injured after being stabbed during a dispute over a loan. The knife remained lodged in his abdomen for nearly three hours, according to police reports.
Authorities revealed that the altercation occurred around 9 PM on Tuesday in the Dariyabad village, located within the Ghosi police jurisdiction. The conflict arose between Udaybhan, the businessman, and a customer regarding the repayment of borrowed money.
As tensions escalated, the suspect allegedly attacked Udaybhan with a knife, inflicting wounds to his shoulder and abdomen, and even attempted to set him on fire.
During the assault, the knife became stuck in the victim's stomach. Villagers alerted the police, who subsequently dispatched an ambulance to transport the injured man first to a local health center and then to the district hospital in Mau.
Doctors at the district hospital performed a complex surgery to remove the knife. Given the severity of his condition, Udaybhan was transferred around midnight to the BHU Trauma Center in Varanasi for advanced treatment.
The officer in charge of the Ghosi police station, Pramendra Kumar Singh, confirmed that the incident stemmed from a financial dispute. He noted that the assailant fled the scene after stabbing the victim. A case has been registered based on the complaint, and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the suspect.
Police are conducting raids in nearby areas to locate the accused. Local residents mentioned that there had been previous disputes between the businessman and his creditors over outstanding debts.
