Security Forces Uncover Terrorist Hideout in Poonch District, Jammu

Discovery of a Terrorist Hideout

On August 5, security forces identified a terrorist hideout in a remote village of Poonch district, Jammu, where ammunition was recovered. Officials provided this information, stating that operations were also conducted in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu district and the Hiranagar sector of Kathua district following reports of suspicious activities.

Despite the extensive searches, no suspects or objectionable materials were found during these operations. According to officials, a joint search operation by the police and the National Rifles led to the discovery of a cave used as a terrorist hideout in the Bhoriwala Dhok area of Surankot tehsil on Wednesday morning. The hideout yielded two magazines for an AK rifle, 117 cartridges, and 17 cartridges for a 9mm pistol.

A large-scale search operation had commenced on Tuesday in the villages of Surankot, which are home to over a dozen forest areas. This initiative was triggered by reports of two separate groups of suspected terrorists moving in the Sangla and Gujjar Nar areas. Officials noted that there had been no contact with the suspected terrorists so far, and the operation continued until the latest updates.

Following a report of suspicious activity by a local resident in the Sunail Panchayat area of the Akhnoor sector, the army and police launched a comprehensive search operation. To maintain strict surveillance in the area, the police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) also conducted a joint search operation early Wednesday from the Parshuram Temple to Jandi Nala in the Hiranagar sector of Kathua district.
