Major Operations in Thoubal and Churachandpur Districts

In a series of operations conducted in the Thoubal and Churachandpur districts of Manipur, security forces successfully confiscated a cache of weapons and ammunition while also eradicating approximately 40 acres of illegal opium cultivation, as reported by the police on Wednesday.


According to police reports, on Tuesday, security personnel recovered eight firearms along with ammunition and explosives from the foothills of the Yerum Ching area in Thoubal district. The seized items included three single-bolt action rifles, five 9mm pistols complete with magazines, a grenade, three INSAS magazines, 40 cartridges of various calibers, and four detonators.


In a separate operation on the same day, a joint team comprising Manipur police, the forest department, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) destroyed around 40 acres of opium fields located in the Mongken area of the Thangjing hill range in Churachandpur district.
