Seizure of Balloons in Kupwara District

On Tuesday, security forces in the Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir confiscated a balloon marked with 'PIA' (Pakistan International Airlines). Officials provided this information, stating that a Pakistani flag tied to several balloons was also recovered in the Khadinyar area of Baramulla district.

The balloon inscribed with 'PIA' was discovered atop a tree in a garden located in the Nowgam area of Handwara. Both locations are situated near the Line of Control in northern Kashmir. Authorities have indicated that security agencies, including the police, are investigating both incidents.

Previous Balloon Discovery

Earlier, on Sunday, a balloon labeled 'SGA Pakistan' was found in the Pacholi village of Samba district. According to sources, a member of the Village Defense Guard (VDG) first spotted the balloon and promptly alerted the local police. Following the report, a police team from the Purmandal police station arrived at the scene and recovered the balloon.

As a precaution, the area was thoroughly searched, and the balloon was seized for further investigation. The balloon was discovered lying in an open field, and during the examination, a Pakistani currency note was also found nearby. Both balloons have now been confiscated, and officials are looking into how they arrived in the area.

Terrorist Activity in the Region

This incident coincided with a situation where three suspected Pakistani terrorists linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed entered a civilian's home in the Soan village of the Majalta area, requesting food from a local Bakerwal family. Following this event, villagers promptly alerted security forces, who quickly cordoned off the area.

The suspected infiltrators were reportedly traced to a hideout in a nearby forest, prompting a large-scale search operation with all escape routes sealed off.

This confrontation occurred on Monday evening in the Jofr area of Udhampur district, just a few kilometers away, where a fierce encounter took place between security forces and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorists, resulting in the death of a police officer.
