Security Forces Intensify Search Operations in Jammu Amid Terror Suspicions
Heightened Security Measures in Kathua District
Jammu: On Monday, security personnel initiated a search operation across various border regions in Rajbagh and Ramkote, following reports of suspicious activities involving potential terrorists, according to officials.
This morning, authorities received alerts about two armed individuals, who were seen carrying large backpacks, moving from Soffain village towards the Ambanall forest area.
In response, police, supported by the Army and CRPF, promptly commenced a search and cordon operation. As of the latest updates, the operation is ongoing, but no signs of the suspected terrorists have been found.
Last March, a confrontation in the Soffain forest resulted in the deaths of four police officers and two members of the Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) group. This region has been identified as a transit route for terrorists infiltrating from across the international border.
Additionally, the Special Operations Group of the local police, in collaboration with the CRPF, has also begun search efforts in Panjtirthi, Bhini Nallah, Barota, Aglidhar, and surrounding areas within the Ramkote sector around 12:15 PM.
Simultaneously, police and military forces are continuing their search in the SIDCO forest area of the nearby Samba district for a second consecutive day. This operation began early Sunday after two suspicious individuals were spotted moving under the cover of darkness.
