Militant Arrests and Weapon Seizures in Manipur
In a series of operations, security forces in Manipur have apprehended three militants and confiscated a significant cache of weapons and ammunition. This information was disclosed by the police on Monday.
According to the police statement, one militant associated with the banned group PREPAK (People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak) was arrested on Sunday in the Nagaikhong Khullen area of Bishnupur district for his involvement in extortion activities. Authorities recovered two firearms, 13 cartridges, a grenade, and two walkie-talkie sets from him.
Additionally, another active member of the banned United National Liberation Front (Koireng) was captured on the same day in Kadangband, located in Imphal West district. Furthermore, a militant from the banned KYKL organization was also apprehended in Kharason, Imphal East district on Sunday.
The police reported that security forces conducted search operations in various outer and sensitive areas across different districts. During an operation in Tharoijam Awang Leikai, Imphal West district, on Sunday, they seized two single-barrel guns, five pistols with magazines, an air pistol, 11 magazines, three grenades, six detonators, and a variety of 50 rounds of ammunition.
