Security Forces Eliminate Notorious Maoist in Chhattisgarh Encounter
Major Success Against Maoists in Bijapur
In a significant operation in Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh, security forces have successfully neutralized a Maoist with a bounty of five lakh rupees. A police official reported that the encounter took place on Friday when security personnel engaged in a firefight in the forests of Aadvada-Kotmeta, located in the Bhairamgarh police station area. This operation was initiated based on intelligence regarding the presence of Maoist cadres in the region.
After the confrontation, authorities recovered the body of the slain Maoist, identified as Faganu Madvi (35), along with a .303 rifle, a 9MM pistol, and explosive materials.
Maoist Identified and Declared a Threat
The police have confirmed that the deceased Maoist was a member of the area committee and had a reward of five lakh rupees on his head. Inspector General of Police for the Bastar region, Sundar Raj P, stated that due to effective and coordinated actions by security forces, Maoism in Bastar is nearing its end.
He emphasized that the entire structure of the Maoist organization has been dismantled, and their attempts to instill fear or violence are now ineffective.
Appeal for Surrender and Rehabilitation
The Inspector General has urged all active Maoists to abandon violence and take advantage of the government's surrender and rehabilitation policy. The campaign against Maoists continues in the Naxal-affected areas of Chhattisgarh.
On Thursday, security forces had previously eliminated three Maoists, including a female, with a total bounty of twelve lakh rupees in Sukma district. With this recent operation, a total of 285 Maoists have been killed in encounters in Chhattisgarh this year, with 256 of these incidents occurring in the Bastar region, which includes Bijapur, Sukma, and Dantewada across seven districts. Additionally, 27 others were killed in the Raipur region, specifically in Gariaband district, while two were neutralized in the Mohla-Manpur-Ambagarh Chowki area.
