Bodies of Five Maoists Recovered

Following an encounter with security personnel, the bodies of five Maoists, including two women, have been recovered. Police officials confirmed this information on Saturday. They stated that during the ongoing anti-Maoist campaign in the Indravati National Park area, a total of seven Maoists, including two leaders, have been killed over the past four days. All seven bodies have been retrieved.

Ongoing Anti-Maoist Campaign

Authorities indicated that the anti-Maoist operation has been underway since June 4 in the Bijapur district's Indravati National Park. This initiative involves the state police's Special Task Force (STF), District Reserve Guard (DRG), and the Cobra Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). On June 5, security forces recovered the body of Maoist leader Sudhakar, also known as Gautam, followed by the recovery of Bhaskar, a member of the Telangana State Committee, on June 6.

Bounties on Maoist Leaders

Officials reported that Sudhakar had a bounty of ₹40 lakh, while Bhaskar's bounty was set at ₹45 lakh. During encounters on the night of Friday and Saturday, three additional Maoist bodies were recovered, with two more found today. Efforts are ongoing to identify the five unidentified Maoist bodies.

Seizure of Weapons and Ammunition

A significant cache of weapons and ammunition has been seized by security forces at the site, including two AK-47 rifles. Police officials noted that some personnel sustained injuries from snake bites, bee stings, dehydration, and other campaign-related injuries. They are receiving necessary medical treatment, and all are reported to be in stable condition and out of danger. Authorities are gathering further details regarding the operation. Previously, security forces had eliminated Nambala Keshav Rao, alias Basavaraju (70), the General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Maoist), in the Bastar region.
