Maoist Neutralized in Sukma District

In Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, security forces have successfully killed a Maoist during an encounter. This information was confirmed by police officials on Friday.


According to the police, the encounter took place in the Kistaram police station area, where forces engaged with a Maoist.


Officials reported that a joint team comprising the District Reserve Guard (DRG), Special Task Force (STF), and the Cobra Battalion of the CRPF was dispatched to the area on Thursday after receiving intelligence about Maoist activity.


They noted that the encounter began around 6 PM on Thursday and has involved intermittent exchanges of fire between the security personnel and the Maoists. So far, one Maoist has been confirmed dead, and search operations are ongoing in the encounter site and surrounding areas.


Earlier on Thursday, during a confrontation in the forests of Tumrel, located on the border of Sukma and Bijapur districts, a Cobra commando from the CRPF lost his life while another Maoist was killed.


Additionally, on Wednesday, a significant encounter occurred in the forests of Abujhmad, situated on the border of Narayanpur and Bijapur districts, where 27 Maoists, including CPI (Maoist) General Secretary Nambala Keshav Rao, also known as Basavaraju (70), were killed in a clash with the state police's DRG.
