Maoist Encounter in Bijapur District

On Saturday, July 26, 2025, security forces engaged in a confrontation with Maoists in the Bijapur District of Chhattisgarh, resulting in the neutralization of four individuals. Reports indicate that the clash occurred in the evening within a forested area of the southwestern district, where the forces were conducting an anti-Maoist operation based on intelligence regarding Maoist activity.


The encounter site revealed the bodies of four Maoists, along with a significant cache of weapons, including INSAS and SLR rifles.



Earlier, on July 16, 2025, a joint task force was established to investigate a group of CPI Maoists led by Sahdev Soren (also known as Anuj or Pravesh Soren) and Chanchal (alias Raghunath or Kanha) during an anti-Naxal operation in Bokaro district, Jharkhand. According to the Bokaro Superintendent of Police, the Maoists launched an attack on the team, prompting a defensive response from the police, which resulted in two fatalities. Tragically, one soldier, Praneshwar from the 209 Battalion, lost his life due to gunfire during this encounter.
