Security Forces Arrest Militant and Seize Weapons in Manipur
Militant Arrested in Kakching, Weapons Seized in Kangpokpi
Imphal, August 4 - Security personnel apprehended a 42-year-old militant linked to a banned organization in Kakching city, while a separate operation in Kangpokpi district led to the recovery of a significant cache of arms and ammunition. This information was disclosed by the police on Tuesday.
According to a police statement, the self-proclaimed 'Major' of the banned group, the Kangleipak Communist Party (People's War), was captured on Monday at his residence in the Wangu Mameiching area.
On the same day, during a different operation, security forces uncovered a stockpile of weapons and ammunition in the Makokching hill range within the jurisdiction of the Sekul police station in Kangpokpi. The police reported that the recovered items included an M16 rifle, seven handguns, a Mark-3 rifle, a sniper rifle, a .22 bolt-action gun, 25 single-barrel shotguns, 76 cartridges of various calibers, four pump-action shotguns, three grenades, and twenty detonators.
Additionally, four radio sets were also seized during the operation.
