Security Forces Arrest Four Militants in Manipur Operations
Recent Arrests of Militants in Manipur
Security forces have apprehended four militants from various regions in Manipur, as reported by officials on Friday. Among those detained is Moirangthem Birmani Meitei, the self-proclaimed army chief of the banned organization, the Kangleipak Communist Party (Nongdrenkhomba).
He was captured on Thursday in the Fubala Patton area of Bishnupur district. Additionally, two members of the Kanglei Yawol Kanna Loop (KYKL) were arrested on Wednesday in the Salungpham market area of Thoubal district. They have been identified as Keisham Wilson Singh, aged 18, and Thokchom Sanathoi Meitei, aged 22.
These individuals are accused of extorting money from small businesses. Authorities also recovered a 9mm pistol, a magazine, and three 9mm cartridges from the two KYKL members.
Furthermore, on Thursday, a prominent activist of the People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (Pro) was arrested in Khurai Chairemthong, East Imphal, identified as Telem Naoba Singh, aged 29.
In a separate operation near Geljang in Churachandpur district, security forces seized an AK rifle along with a magazine and two other weapons. The operation also yielded three detonators, two radio sets, an IED cap, and three improvised mortars.
