Sukma, Chhattisgarh: In a significant operation against Naxalites in Sukma district, security forces have made a notable discovery. During a search operation in the dense forests of Belpochha-Gompad, they uncovered a cache of explosives hidden by the insurgents. Following this recovery, security agencies have intensified their search operations in the area.
Operation Initiated Based on Inputs from Surrendered Naxalites
According to reports, crucial intelligence was received from Naxalites who had surrendered. Based on this information, a joint team comprising district forces, DRG, and Bastar Fighters commenced a search and area domination operation in the Belpochha-Gompad region on August 30. During the search in the thick forests and hilly terrain, the troops received leads about suspicious materials.
Subsequently, the security forces cordoned off the area and recovered the hidden cache. Officials stated that the timely discovery of the explosive materials has averted a potential threat.
Large Quantity of Suspicious Explosive Materials Recovered
According to security forces, the search yielded two tiffin bombs and approximately 8 kilograms of IED materials. Additionally, detonators, gelatin sticks, and other items were also found.
Other suspicious materials were also recovered from the site. Security agencies are now investigating the origin of these materials and the purpose for which they were concealed in the forest.
