Security Breach During PM Modi's Bengaluru Visit Leads to Police Suspensions
Police Action Following Security Incident
On Sunday, officials announced the suspension of six police officers in connection with the discovery of gelatin sticks near the route of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Bengaluru. The Superintendent of Police for Bengaluru South (Ram Nagar) ordered the suspensions pending the completion of an investigation into the incident. This occurrence has raised significant concerns regarding potential security lapses during the Prime Minister's scheduled visit on May 10.
According to police reports, the gelatin sticks were found during routine security checks and cleanliness drives conducted prior to Modi's arrival.
Details of the Discovery
The Deputy Inspector General of Police (Central Range) revealed that two gelatin sticks were discovered near a footpath approximately three kilometers from the venue where the Prime Minister was expected to appear. The DIG confirmed that these sticks were located during inspections conducted ahead of Modi's arrival, emphasizing that the investigation is ongoing.
Authorities have initiated a thorough inquiry to determine how the explosive materials reached the vicinity of the Prime Minister's route and whether there was any deliberate attempt to breach security.
Concerns Over Security Measures
The suspensions came just days after the gelatin sticks were found, raising serious alarms about security protocols. The explosives were located near an ashram close to Kagalipura, about three kilometers from the main event site where Modi was scheduled to participate later that day. Police confirmed that the gelatin sticks were discovered during standard security checks conducted before the Prime Minister's arrival.
