Security Breach at Delhi Assembly Raises Concerns After SUV Intrusion

Incident Overview

On Monday afternoon, chaos erupted within the Delhi Assembly premises when a masked individual drove a speeding SUV through the security barriers. This incident has not only raised serious questions about the security measures in place at the assembly but has also jeopardized the livelihood of a poor e-rickshaw driver waiting outside, as reported by witnesses.

The e-rickshaw driver involved recounted that the vehicle was traveling at a speed of approximately 60 to 70 km/h. After entering the assembly grounds around 2 PM, the individual placed a bouquet on the vehicle of the assembly speaker parked in the corridor before fleeing at the same high speed.

E-Rickshaw Driver's Account

Gaurav, the e-rickshaw driver, shared, "I had parked my e-rickshaw outside Gate Number 2 of the assembly and was waiting for customers near the metro gate when I heard a loud crash as the car collided with the iron gate." He typically transports passengers between the assembly metro station and Majnu Ka Tila.

By the time he reached his vehicle, a crowd had already gathered. He noted that his e-rickshaw sustained damage, with a piece of the rear section broken, the tail light shattered, and the handle bent.

Financial Impact and Security Response

Gaurav expressed his concern, stating, "I won’t receive any compensation for repairs." He estimated the repair costs to be around 4,000 rupees. He mentioned that a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) officer stationed at the gate attempted to alert the police and other officials as the car entered, but the vehicle managed to escape before they arrived.

Currently, law enforcement is reviewing CCTV footage to identify the vehicle's registration number and the masked individual. This breach in the highly secure Delhi Assembly area has alarmed security agencies, raising critical questions about how a car could penetrate such tight security and exit safely.
