Schools in Doda and Kishtwar Districts Closed Due to Bad Weather

School Closures in Jammu and Kashmir

On July 29, schools in the majority of Doda and Kishtwar districts were ordered to remain closed due to adverse weather conditions, as reported by local authorities. Despite the closures, schools in both districts have been instructed to continue online classes.

Following directives from the District Development Commissioner of Doda, the Chief Education Officer (CEO) announced the closure of all government and private schools in the district on July 29, prioritizing the safety of students and staff. Similarly, the district administration in Kishtwar has ordered the closure of all schools, both public and private, due to ongoing heavy rainfall, slippery roads, and the risk of landslides. Moderate to heavy rain began around 5 AM in areas of the Chenab Valley, including Doda, Kishtwar, and Ramban.

Meanwhile, the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, which serves as the only all-weather route connecting Jammu and Kashmir to the rest of the country, remained open for traffic despite the continuous rainfall.
