Samson's Remarkable Performance

After a stunning century that secured a win for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), opener Sanju Samson shared his thoughts on overcoming failures and the confidence instilled in him by the franchise. This motivation propelled him to deliver an exceptional performance against Delhi Capitals (DC) at Chepauk on Saturday.

Samson made history by becoming the first player to score centuries for three different franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL). This century marked his debut for CSK, following two centuries for Rajasthan Royals and one for Delhi Capitals. Prior to this match, he had a challenging start to the season, recording three single-digit scores after being named 'Player of the Tournament' in the T20 World Cup. However, he redeemed himself with a remarkable century at Chepauk, marking the seventh of his T20 career.

Trust from the Franchise

During the post-match presentation, Samson expressed his gratitude, stating, "It really means a lot. The trust they placed in me felt like a responsibility to perform. I needed to show that we are still in the tournament, and fortunately, everything went well. Starting off in a new franchise is challenging, but it never felt unfamiliar."

"It feels like coming home. The people are incredibly kind and calm. Even after losing three consecutive games, we only had a brief meeting today, which reflects the franchise's supportive nature and resonates with who I am," he added.

Learning from Failures

Reflecting on his past struggles, Samson acknowledged that his failures have been instrumental in his growth. "At 31, I've spent considerable time in this sport, and I understand the importance of returning to basics. It's crucial to mentally and physically prepare. As a batsman, I focus on seeing the ball clearly from the bowlers. We had productive sessions with our support staff, and I'm pleased with how things turned out," he remarked.

Commendation for Ayush Mhatre

Samson also praised U19 World Cup-winning captain Ayush Mhatre for his impressive performance. "Building a strong partnership is vital in this format. Ayush displayed remarkable maturity, and it never felt like he was fresh out of under-19 cricket. His calculated approach reflects his character and clarity in batting," he concluded.

In a heartfelt gesture, Samson dedicated his century to head coach Stephen Fleming, acknowledging the team's management's unwavering support.
