Sanju Samson Reflects on Transition from Rajasthan Royals to Chennai Super Kings
Samson's Departure from Rajasthan Royals
Sanju Samson, celebrated for his role in India's T20 World Cup success, has openly discussed his exit from the Rajasthan Royals. He revealed that the decision stemmed from a clear understanding that his tenure with the franchise had concluded. Now a member of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), he emphasized that he would not let emotions interfere with his performance when facing his former team.
"This will be my first match against Rajasthan Royals, but I don't allow emotions to dictate my actions on the field. I departed from Rajasthan Royals because I sensed my time there was finished. Regardless of the matchup, I am committed to playing my best cricket," Samson stated.
Upcoming IPL Clash
The much-anticipated match is set to occur in Guwahati, where CSK will take on the Royals in the opening game of IPL 2026. Samson acknowledged that the experience would feel different but reiterated that his concentration remains firmly on the game.
Balancing Emotion with Performance
Samson recognized that emotions might arise before and after the game, especially considering his long-standing relationships with players and staff from Rajasthan Royals. However, he stressed that once on the field, the focus shifts to the game itself, prioritizing performance above all.
As he embarks on this new journey with CSK, Samson expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity to play alongside MS Dhoni. He mentioned having already conversed with Dhoni and is eager to learn from him.
"I am genuinely thrilled to join CSK. I had a conversation with Dhoni bhai earlier and felt a strong positive connection. Spending nearly two months with him will be an incredible chance to observe and learn," Samson remarked.
He also reminisced about the support he received from Chennai fans during the T20 World Cup, stating, "I was taken aback by the backing from the Chennai crowd. Perhaps they view me as one of their own. I aim to meet their expectations and will strive to give my best for CSK."
