Political Controversy Erupts Over Raut's Comments
Sanjay Raut, a leader from the Shiv Sena (UBT), ignited a political controversy on Saturday by labeling Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a 'ghori' and a cruel individual. This statement drew sharp criticism from the BJP, which accused Raut of insulting both Modi and Gujarat by suggesting that the Prime Minister hails from the land of Aurangzeb. The BJP further stated that the opposition's desperation has reached unprecedented levels. Speaking to reporters in Pune, Raut expressed that he has never encountered such a 'ghori' figure in politics and claimed that Modi's very persona instills fear.
Raut's Critique of Modi's Leadership
Raut asserted that the political landscape of the country has never seen a person as 'ghori' as Modi. He remarked that the nation has produced great leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, Lal Bahadur Shastri, P.V. Narasimha Rao, Rajiv Gandhi, B.R. Ambedkar, and Balasaheb Thackeray, but Modi's overall character evokes fear. He questioned the origins of such a person, noting that Modi comes from the same soil where Aurangzeb was born, which he emphasized by stating that Aurangzeb was indeed born in Gujarat.
BJP Responds to Raut's Allegations
In response, BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala criticized Raut's statements, indicating that they reflect a new level of desperation from the opposition, which is now targeting not just Modi but also the state of Gujarat. In a video statement, Poonawala remarked that the opposition has resorted to using derogatory language against Modi and has insulted the entire state of Gujarat.
Historical Context of Political Insults
Poonawala accused the Congress party and its allies of repeatedly using derogatory language against Modi in the past, attributing their continued use of such language to political frustration. He highlighted that Rahul Gandhi has used extremely disrespectful terms for the Prime Minister, having uttered over 150 derogatory remarks. Raut's recent comments, which he deemed as an insult to Gujarat, further illustrate the opposition's mindset.
Lack of Substantive Criticism
Poonawala concluded that opposition leaders resort to insults because they lack substantial arguments to critique the Prime Minister. He stated that their reliance on offensive language stems from an absence of genuine criticism against Modi. Consequently, the public will hold them accountable once again.
