Call for Intervention in Ongoing Conflict
Sanjay Raut, a member of the Shiv Sena (UBT), appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday to take action in the Iran-Israel conflict and work towards halting the war. He criticized the government's silence regarding the assassination of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, a true friend of India. Speaking to reporters, Raut emphasized that Modi, as a global leader and 'Vishwa Guru', should intervene to stop the conflict and encourage his allies to do the same.
Criticism of Government's Silence
Raut remarked that Ayatollah Khamenei was recognized worldwide, except by Israel, and had always supported India. He noted that Khamenei was also a follower of Nehru. Raut questioned whether Modi was upset by this and stated that the Prime Minister and President should express condolences when such a leader is killed. He raised concerns about whether they were afraid of Israel or former President Trump.
Escalating Tensions Following Military Strikes
This statement comes amid heightened tensions following a joint missile attack on Iran by Israel and the United States on February 28, dubbed 'Operation Roaring Lion/Operation Epic Fury'. Both U.S. President Donald Trump and Iranian state media confirmed that the attacks resulted in the deaths of Ayatollah Khamenei, his daughter, grandson, daughter-in-law, and son-in-law.
PM Modi Discusses Regional Security
This morning, Prime Minister Modi held discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the regional situation, emphasizing the importance of citizen safety. Modi reiterated the need to end hostilities as soon as possible, expressing India's concerns over recent developments during their phone conversation.
