Sanjay Raut Predicts Major Changes in Maharashtra Politics
Potential Cabinet Reshuffle in Maharashtra
On Friday, Sanjay Raut, a leader from the Shiv Sena (UBT), suggested that a cabinet reshuffle at the central level could lead to Maharashtra's Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis being assigned a national role. He indicated that a senior BJP leader might take over as the state's chief minister. Speaking to reporters during his visit to Nagpur ahead of the 'Ram Raksha Andolan' led by Uddhav Thackeray, Raut mentioned that significant changes could occur in both Maharashtra and at the central level within the next month or two.
Invitation to Hindutva Organizations
Raut elaborated that if a reshuffle happens, Fadnavis could serve the nation in a new capacity, while a senior minister from the BJP could step in as the chief minister of Maharashtra. He was in Nagpur to prepare for the 'Ram Raksha' protest scheduled for July 18, which addresses allegations of financial irregularities concerning donations for the Ayodhya Ram Temple. Invitations have been sent to all Hindutva organizations, including the RSS, and Raut urged RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat to send a representative if he cannot attend.
Political Engagement and Upcoming Protests
Raut confirmed that leaders from various political parties, including the BJP, and local legislators have also been invited to the protest. He stated that Ram devotees from Vidarbha, which includes Nagpur and 11 other districts, along with Shiv Sena (UBT) workers, will participate in the demonstration. Additionally, Raut expressed agreement with Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which called for an all-party meeting on delimitation before the parliamentary session.
Upcoming Legislative Changes
The government is expected to introduce the Constitution (131st Amendment) Bill during the monsoon session of Parliament starting July 20, which proposes an increase in Lok Sabha seats and the initiation of the delimitation process. Raut also questioned the government's response to a hunger strike by activist Sonam Wangchuk, who protested against alleged irregularities in examinations.
