Sanjay Raut Questions Team India Concept
In light of the ongoing crisis in West Asia, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut has criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Team India' approach, labeling it as hypocritical. Modi convened a meeting with chief ministers to assess preparations as the situation worsens, emphasizing that working together as 'Team India' would help the nation overcome challenges. During a press conference in Mumbai on Saturday, Raut highlighted the Prime Minister's absence from an all-party meeting chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, calling for a parliamentary discussion on the matter.
Concerns Over Team India Representation
Raut questioned who constitutes 'Team India', asserting that while it represents a national ideology, the Prime Minister's commitment to the country is questionable. He pointed out the lack of team spirit within Modi's party, noting their absence at the all-party meeting where opposition parties assured support to the central government during this crisis. Raut accused the government of promoting the hypocrisy of 'Team India', insisting that its leaders should engage in discussions about the impact of conflicts in Parliament and provide answers to pressing questions, which he claims has not occurred.
Call for Opposition Collaboration in Maharashtra
Raut reiterated the demand for appointing a leader of the opposition in the Maharashtra Assembly and urged the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) to form a team with opposition parties to address the implications of the West Asia conflict on the state. He emphasized the need for a genuine team in Maharashtra, inclusive of major opposition parties, to collectively tackle the current crises. He proposed that the formal selection of the opposition leader should be initiated and overseen by the Chief Minister.
Post-Meeting Insights from PM Modi
This discussion followed Prime Minister Modi's meeting with state chief ministers, where he stressed the importance of maintaining economic and trade stability, ensuring energy security, protecting citizens' interests, and strengthening industries and supply chains. Additionally, Raut alleged that Shiv Sena MLA Deepak Keskar and NCP leader Rupali Chakanakar, along with 40 other legislators, were linked to sexual harassment accusations against Ashok Kharat.
