Sanjay Raut's Criticism of PM Modi's Speech
On March 24, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut expressed his discontent regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's address in the Lok Sabha concerning the conflict in West Asia. Speaking to a news outlet, Raut remarked that Modi appeared to have lost control and seemed despondent. He noted that the Prime Minister addressed the house 25 days after the onset of the war, and his body language and demeanor indicated signs of depression. Raut further stated that Modi seems to have lost his composure and implied that he may not remain in power for long, suggesting that Modi might resign voluntarily.
In reference to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's comments on Modi's 25-minute speech, Raut pointed out that the address lacked the necessary clarity during such a critical time. He emphasized the need for a debate given the seriousness of the situation, stating that if the Prime Minister wishes to inform the public about a grave issue, a discussion is essential.
Rahul Gandhi criticized Modi's handling of the West Asia situation, accusing him of failing to mention the United States in his speech and claiming that he is under the complete influence of President Donald Trump. At a tribal rights constitutional conference in Vadodara, Gandhi remarked that while Modi delivered a 25-minute speech, he would not participate in any parliamentary debate due to his compromises. He asserted that Modi spoke for 25 minutes without uttering a word against the U.S., indicating that Modi is entirely under Trump's control.
During his address in the Lok Sabha on Monday, Modi described the West Asia conflict as "worrisome" and highlighted its potential economic, security, and humanitarian impacts on India. He underscored India's trade relations with the war-torn region, particularly its dependence on crude oil and gas, and stressed the need for India to prepare for the long-term consequences of the conflict. The Prime Minister also reiterated India's diplomatic stance, urging all parties to de-escalate tensions and condemned attacks on civilians and commercial vessels, as well as the blockade of critical waterways like the Strait of Hormuz.
