Sanjay Raut Criticizes Rebel MPs and Eknath Shinde Amid Shiv Sena Split

In a recent political upheaval, Sanjay Raut of Shiv Sena (UBT) has sharply criticized rebel MPs and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Raut's comments, labeling the rebels as traitors, come as six MPs officially joined Shinde's faction, solidifying a split in the party. This move follows a significant meeting where only a few members attended, highlighting the growing divide. Shinde, in response, claimed that these MPs have returned to the 'real' Shiv Sena, emphasizing the importance of Balasaheb Thackeray's teachings. As the political landscape in Maharashtra shifts, the implications of these changes are yet to unfold.

Sanjay Raut's Strong Words Against Rebel MPs

On Monday, Sanjay Raut, a member of the Shiv Sena (UBT), launched a fierce attack on the party's rebel MPs and criticized Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. In a post on X, Raut labeled the rebels as traitors, claiming that the divine figure Chitragupta has begun to account for their sins. He ominously suggested that future generations would remember them as traitors, saying, 'My father was a traitor, my husband was a traitor, my grandfather was a traitor.' Later, during a meeting with Shiv Sena (UBT) legislators, Raut intensified his criticism of Shinde, stating that Shinde has given birth to six traitors and that a surgical intervention would be necessary to manage the situation properly.

Rebel MPs Join Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena

Earlier on Monday, all six rebel Lok Sabha members from Shiv Sena (UBT) officially joined the ruling faction led by Eknath Shinde in Mumbai, marking a formal split from Uddhav Thackeray's party. This event occurred just five days after the rebel MPs did not attend a crucial meeting of the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) parliamentary group. The joining ceremony took place in the presence of Shinde and other senior party leaders. Only three Lok Sabha members attended the Shiv Sena (UBT) parliamentary meeting.

List of Rebel Lok Sabha Members

The Lok Sabha members who switched sides from Shiv Sena (UBT) include Sanjay Deshmukh (Yavatmal), Sanjay Jadhav (Parbhani), Sanjay Dina Patil (Mumbai North East), Nagesh Patil-Aashtikar (Hingoli), Omprakash Raje Nimbalkar (Dharashiv), and Bhausaheb Wakchoure (Shirdi). They had previously defeated candidates from the BJP and Shiv Sena in the 2024 general elections. Shiv Sena (UBT) had secured nine Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra during these elections.

Eknath Shinde's Remarks on the Situation

Speaking to reporters, Shinde remarked that these Lok Sabha members have now joined the 'real' Shiv Sena, which adheres to the teachings of the late Balasaheb Thackeray. He noted that four years ago, he took a bold step, and now he has hit a six, referring to the number of MPs who have defected. Shinde emphasized that his earlier actions in June 2022, which led to the split in Shiv Sena, were aimed at preserving the principles of Balasaheb Thackeray and the party itself. He declared that this latest move represents the second phase of Shiv Sena's expansion and announced that 'Operation Tiger' has now been completed successfully.
