Delhi High Court Adjourns Hearing on Salman Khan's Plea

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has postponed the hearing regarding actor Salman Khan's request to prevent the release of the upcoming film Kala Hiran, without providing any temporary relief at this point.

A vacation bench led by Justice Madhu Jain instructed that a full set of the plaint and related documents be given to the filmmaker involved and scheduled the next hearing for July 1.

During the proceedings, Salman Khan's attorney, Nizam Pasha, argued that the film allegedly draws from the actor's personal experiences and was created without his approval.

While seeking immediate relief, Pasha pointed out that the film's poster and trailer have already been unveiled, although the official release date remains unconfirmed.

In response, the filmmakers' counsel contended that they had not received the complete documentation related to the case.

The counsel stated, 'On Wednesday, I was only given a copy of the application, not the full plaint,' and mentioned that the filmmakers have been threatened over the project, with a police report already filed.

After considering the arguments, the Delhi High Court instructed Salman Khan to provide the complete set of documents to the opposing party and set the matter for further discussion on July 1. Shortly after, Khan's counsel requested an earlier hearing, claiming the filmmakers had already been served.

However, Justice Jain noted that the case was already scheduled for July and declined to expedite the hearing.

This legal dispute arose shortly after Salman Khan's legal representatives sent a notice to the creators of Kala Hiran: The Battle for Legacy, demanding they cease all promotional activities, including posters and marketing materials.

Directed by Bharat S. Shrinet and produced by Amit Jani, the film is said to be inspired by the blackbuck poaching incident involving Salman Khan and also depicts his alleged conflict with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. The filmmakers have characterized it as a courtroom drama intertwined with a crime thriller on a global scale.

The controversy surrounding the film has escalated recently, with producer Jani claiming he has received death threats in connection with the film's release. On June 18, Jani reported that a Pakistani terrorist had threatened him with a drone and grenade attack regarding the film, and he has alerted the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, Rajasthan Police, and CRPF officials. He further claimed to have received a second death threat within a day.

In a police report filed in Jodhpur, he stated that an anonymous caller, claiming to be a fan of Salman Khan, threatened to kill him within three days. The producer has urged law enforcement to take immediate action and apprehend the individual responsible.
