Sai Sudharsan Poised for Test Debut Against England After IPL Success

Following the conclusion of the IPL, Team India is gearing up for a challenging Test series in England. Sai Sudharsan, who showcased exceptional talent during the IPL, is likely to make his debut in this series. He emerged as the leading run-scorer in the 18th season, amassing a remarkable total of 759 runs across 15 matches.
Sudharsan has been selected for the upcoming series against England, although the batting order has yet to be confirmed by the coach or captain. Former Australian captain Michael Clarke has made significant remarks regarding Sudharsan's potential batting position.
Shubman Gill, the Test captain for India, is expected to bat at the fourth position, a spot previously held by Virat Kohli, which is now vacant. On the Beyond23 Cricket Podcast, Clarke expressed his admiration for Sudharsan, calling him a 'superstar' and suggesting that he is suited for the number three position in Test cricket. He believes that Sudharsan will eventually open the innings for India in T20 and ODI formats as well.
During IPL 2025, Sudharsan's performance was outstanding, with an average of 54.21 and 759 runs in 15 matches, including one century and six half-centuries for the Gujarat Titans, who finished fourth in the playoffs.
Clarke further stated that he believes Sudharsan could directly step into the number three batting position. He praised Sudharsan's technical skills, noting that he possesses a wide array of shots and is mentally prepared for the challenges ahead. Clarke was genuinely impressed by Sudharsan's abilities and remarked on his appealing playing style.
