Exciting Matchup in Bengaluru

As the Gujarat Titans (GT) prepare to face the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Sai Sudharsan has a chance to make history by surpassing Chris Gayle's record for the fastest 2,000 runs in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

A Critical Encounter for Both Teams

RCB is eager to recover from a nail-biting finish against the Delhi Capitals (DC) and aims for their fifth victory of the season. Meanwhile, GT, currently sitting seventh in the standings with three wins and three losses, will clash with RCB at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru this Friday.

Sudharsan's Quest for a Record and Recent Performance

Despite a challenging IPL season thus far, Sudharsan is determined to regain his form that previously placed him among the top batters in the league. Over 46 matches and innings, he has accumulated 1,928 runs, boasting an average of 45.90 and a strike rate of 145.83, which includes two centuries and 13 fifties. If he manages to score 72 more runs in today's match, he will achieve the 2,000-run milestone in just 47 innings, outpacing Gayle, who reached it in 48 innings.

This season, Sudharsan has only managed 135 runs across six innings, averaging 22.50 with a strike rate exceeding 145. His standout performance includes a half-century and a 73-run innings against the Rajasthan Royals (RR). However, he has only surpassed the 20-run mark once in his other five innings.

Sudharsan's struggles have impacted the Titans' batting lineup. The middle order, featuring players like Shahrukh Khan, Glenn Phillips, and Rahul Tewatia, has been inconsistent, and their improvement could alleviate some pressure on the top-order batsmen, including Sudharsan, captain Shubman Gill, and Jos Buttler.
