On Thursday, a session of the Special Area Development Authority (SADA) took place at the Bharmour Sub-Division Headquarters, led virtually by Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repswal, who also serves as the Chairperson of SADA.

The Deputy Commissioner elaborated on the current projects under SADA, discussed revenue sources, and addressed development and sanitation challenges in the area, providing necessary guidance to the officials present.

Vikas Sharma, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (NA) of Bharmour, provided updates on various initiatives and future plans. He reported that SADA generated around ₹40 lakh in revenue during the financial year 2025-26. To enhance sanitation efforts, a monthly sanitation fee will be introduced starting July 1, charging ₹100 for shops and ₹50 for residential properties.

Additionally, a new Green Tax will be implemented for vehicles entering Bharmour from July 1, aimed at promoting environmental sustainability. The tax rates will be ₹50 for two-wheelers, ₹100 for cars, ₹300 for SUVs/MUVs, and ₹500 for buses. However, vehicles registered with RLA Bharmaur, those owned by local residents, and local taxi union vehicles will be exempt from this fee. Special passes will also be provided for vehicles that regularly travel between Bharmaur and Khadmuq.

The introduction of the Green Tax is projected to generate an extra ₹70 lakh during the tourist season, which will be allocated for development and environmental conservation projects.

Furthermore, it was agreed that the maintenance of public toilets under SADA will now be the responsibility of the respective Panchayats.

The meeting also saw participation from various officials, including Vijay Nag, Executive Engineer of the Jal Shakti Department; Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, Assistant Engineer of PWD; and Krishan Kumar, Assistant Engineer of the Electricity Department.
