On Wednesday, Indian cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar paid tribute to his late coach Ramakant Achrekar on what would have been his birthday. Through a nostalgic post on his X account, Tendulkar expressed his gratitude, stating, "Another day where I miss your presence... a little more so than usual. Happy heavenly birthday Achrekar Sir. Your legacy lives on through all the lives you touched and players you made. Thank you for everything."

Ramakant Achrekar's Legacy

Ramakant Achrekar was not only Tendulkar's mentor but also coached numerous other Indian cricketers. He received the esteemed Dronacharya Award in 1990 and was honored with the Padma Shri in 2010. Achrekar, who passed away in January 2019, was a significant figure in Mumbai's cricketing landscape, having trained over a dozen international players.

Sachin Tendulkar's Remarkable Career

Tendulkar holds the record for the highest runs in international cricket, amassing a total of 34,357 runs across 664 matches with an impressive average of 48.52. His career includes 100 centuries and 164 half-centuries in all formats of the game.

In Test matches, Tendulkar scored 15,921 runs in 200 games, boasting an extraordinary average of 53.78. He leads with 51 Test centuries and 68 half-centuries.

ODI Records

In One Day Internationals (ODIs), Sachin accumulated 18,426 runs in 463 matches, the highest by any player. He was the first male cricketer to achieve a double century in ODIs, with a total of 49 centuries and 96 half-centuries. Tendulkar also celebrated victory in the ICC ODI World Cup 2011, where India triumphed over Sri Lanka by six wickets in Mumbai.
