Sachin Tendulkar Enjoys Wimbledon Semi-Finals Amidst Thrilling Matches

Tendulkar's Presence at Wimbledon
London, July 12: Sachin Tendulkar was spotted at the prestigious Wimbledon semi-finals, witnessing the thrilling matches at the All England Tennis Club's Centre Court on Friday.
The day was filled with excitement as Carlos Alcaraz faced off against Taylor Fritz in a hard-fought contest, ultimately winning 6-4, 5-7, 6-3, 7-6 (6). The first semi-final was exhilarating, but World No.1 Jannik Sinner dominated Novak Djokovic in straight sets, setting the stage for another showdown with Alcaraz, just a month after their epic clash in the Roland Garros final.
Tendulkar shared insights about his favorite tennis players, revealing how John McEnroe inspired his choice of headbands and expressing admiration for Carlos Alcaraz.
“I grew up idolizing John McEnroe. While my friends were fans of Bjorn Borg, I always supported McEnroe. I even wore a headband like his, hoping to be called McEnroe by my friends. In recent years, Roger Federer has captured my admiration. I appreciate watching Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, but Roger stands out for me,” Tendulkar remarked.
“Among the current players, Carlos Alcaraz truly impresses me with his infectious energy. I admire his agility, attitude, and the mental resilience he displayed at the French Open. That relentless spirit is what defines a true champion. Not every tennis player achieves greatness, but the dedication and discipline they exhibit command my respect,” he added during an interview with JioHotstar.
When asked about his ideal doubles partner from Indian cricket, Tendulkar mentioned, “I’ve previously played doubles with Yuvraj Singh against some of our 2003 World Cup teammates, and we emerged victorious. I would definitely choose Yuvraj again without hesitation.”
Tendulkar also attended the first day of the Lord’s Test between India and England, where he had the honor of ringing the bell to signal the start of play. On that day, his portrait, created by artist Stuart Pearson Wright, was unveiled at the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) Museum.
