The cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar expressed his sorrow over the death of iconic playback singer Asha Bhosle, who passed away at the age of 92 on Sunday. Tendulkar shared his heartfelt condolences, stating that she felt like a member of his family and that her music would remain timeless.


In a post on X, Tendulkar remarked, "Today is a profoundly sad day for India and music enthusiasts worldwide. Asha Tai was like family to us. Words seem inadequate to express our grief. One moment, the heart is silent, and the next, it resonates with the countless melodies she has gifted us. It feels as if time has come to a standstill. Yet, through her everlasting songs, she will remain ageless forever." He also thanked Asha Bhosle for her warmth, elegance, and unforgettable contributions to music, emphasizing how deeply she will be missed.


Tributes from the Cricket Community

Members of the Indian cricket community, including Gautam Gambhir, head coach of the Indian men's team, and Rajeev Shukla, Vice President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, also paid their respects following the singer's passing. Gambhir took to X to express his sadness, stating that Asha Bhosle's "elegance" and "unmatched talent" would always be cherished. He wrote, "I am saddened by the loss of the legendary Asha Bhosle Ji. Her grace and unparalleled talent will forever remain in our hearts."


Details of Her Passing and Final Rites

Asha Bhosle passed away at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai due to multi-organ failure, as confirmed by Dr. Pratit Samdani. She had been admitted the previous day due to severe exhaustion and a chest infection. Her son, Anand Bhosle, provided details regarding her last rites, stating that the public could pay their respects at her residence, Casa Grande in Lower Parel, at 11 am on April 13. The final rites are set to take place later that day at Shivaji Park.
