Tendulkar's Call for Honesty and Merit

Iconic cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has emphasized the importance of honesty, diligence, and merit in light of the ongoing protests led by the youth-oriented Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) in Delhi. These protests are aimed at demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan due to allegations surrounding the NEET-UG 2026 exam paper leak. In a recent post on X, Tendulkar reflected on a lesson from his father: 'Failure is acceptable, but cheating is not.' He acknowledged the understandable disappointment students feel when their hard work goes unrecognized.

Tendulkar urged parents, educators, and society at large to foster an environment that values integrity and rewards merit, motivating young individuals to chase their dreams. He shared, 'My father, a professor, mentored many students and taught me early on that shortcuts are not the way to success. As a society, we must shape a culture that values effort over mere outcomes. When students feel let down, it’s a reflection of our collective responsibility.'

Violence Erupts During Protests

On July 20, the CJP's 'Sansad Chalo' protest escalated as hundreds of demonstrators, including students, attempted to breach police barricades to reach the high-security Parliament area. Reports indicate that over 100 protesters and 118 police officers sustained injuries during the unrest.

Legal Action Following Protests

In a related development, the Delhi High Court has agreed to hear a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) on Friday, which calls for a National Investigation Agency (NIA) inquiry into the events of the July 20 protest. The petition highlights that demonstrations regarding the alleged paper leak began on June 6 at Jantar Mantar and culminated in the recent march. It seeks to transfer all related FIRs to a specialized agency and calls for accountability for those involved in the violence, which included stone-pelting, injuries to law enforcement, attacks on journalists, and damage to property.
