Indian boxer Sachin Siwach has set his sights on winning a gold medal after successfully reaching the quarterfinals in the men's 60 kg category at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow on Monday. Ranked fifth in the world, Siwach showcased his skills by defeating the promising English boxer William Hewitt, as reported by ESPN.

Siwach dominated the initial two rounds, winning each by a score of 4-1. In the final round, he delivered powerful punches, ultimately securing victory by a split decision, bringing him closer to a medal.

Aiming for Gold

In an interview, Sachin Siwach expressed satisfaction with his performance against Hewitt and acknowledged the crucial role of his coach's advice in achieving this win. He emphasized that his ambition extends beyond merely winning a medal; he is determined to secure gold. Siwach stated, "It turned out really well after listening to my coach. Now, the goal isn't just a medal; it's gold. That's what I had decided from the start: I'm going for gold. My first two fights were tough, though the subsequent ones weren't as difficult. Still, I have to be fully prepared. I don't want to make mistakes."

Advancing to the Quarterfinals

Siwach progressed to the Round of 16 in the men's 60 kg category after defeating Canada's Keoma Al-Ahmadieh with a 4-1 split decision in the Round of 32.
