Concerns Raised Over Vice President's Resignation

Senior Congress leader and party general secretary Sachin Pilot expressed skepticism regarding Jagdeep Dhankhar's resignation from the vice presidency, suggesting that there may be underlying issues. Speaking to reporters in Tonk, Pilot emphasized that the vice president holds the second-highest constitutional position in the country. He accused the BJP and the central government of consistently misusing constitutional roles and institutions. Pilot pointed out that in such circumstances, a formal farewell is customary. He stated that something unexpected must have occurred behind the scenes, prompting Dhankhar to resign suddenly. Regarding the 'anti-corruption' march led by independent candidate Naresh Meena, Pilot affirmed that everyone has the right to advocate for their rights.

Youth Engagement and Political Accountability

Meena had contested a by-election last year from the Deoli-Uniyara assembly constituency in Tonk and was arrested for allegedly slapping a sub-divisional magistrate (SDM). Recently, the Rajasthan High Court granted him bail. Pilot questioned whether it was truly beneficial that the youth are speaking out, and whether leaders in Jaipur and Delhi genuinely care about their concerns. He further stated that in a democracy, it is preferable for people to express their views peacefully and with goodwill. Pilot insisted that those who advocate for the youth should empower them fully and work on their behalf, criticizing the Prime Minister for being too preoccupied with foreign trips to address these issues.

Criticism of Rajasthan's BJP Government

Targeting the BJP government in Rajasthan led by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, Pilot alleged that the law and order situation in the state has deteriorated and that there is a lack of governance. He claimed that the real issue is the government's loss of control over law and order, with all claims related to employment and development proving to be hollow. Meanwhile, the Congress party is demanding a dignified farewell for Dhankhar, who has served in the position for three years.
