S Sreesanth Faces Three-Year Suspension from Kerala Cricket Association Over Controversial Remarks

Sreesanth's Suspension Explained
Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) has imposed a three-year suspension on former Indian fast bowler S Sreesanth due to his allegedly false and derogatory comments regarding the association. This decision stems from the controversy surrounding Sanju Samson's exclusion from the Indian squad for the Champions Trophy.
The KCA announced this decision following a special General Body meeting held in Kochi on April 30.
Currently, Sreesanth is a co-owner of the Kollam Aeries, a team in the Kerala Cricket League.
Previously, Sreesanth and the franchise teams Kollam Aeries, Alappuzha Team Lead, and Alappuzha Ripples received show-cause notices regarding his controversial statements.
The KCA noted that the franchise teams provided satisfactory responses to the notices, leading to no further action against them. However, the association advised more caution in selecting team management members.
Additionally, the General Body resolved to pursue a compensation claim against Sanju Samson's father, Samson Vishwanath, and two others for making unfounded allegations involving Sanju's name.
Sreesanth, who was part of the Indian team that clinched two World Cup titles, received a show-cause notice for his comments linking the KCA and Samson during a discussion on a Malayalam television channel.
The KCA clarified that the notice was not issued for supporting Samson but for making misleading and defamatory statements against the association.
During the televised discussion, Sreesanth expressed his support for Samson and pledged to defend him and other players from Kerala while accusing the KCA.
His comments arose amid backlash against the KCA for dropping Samson from the Kerala squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy, which was thought to hinder his chances of being selected for the Champions Trophy.
