RSS Celebrates 100 Years: Key Insights from Mohan Bhagwat's Address
RSS Marks a Century with a Lecture Series
The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) recently commemorated its centenary by launching a three-day series of lectures. The event kicked off on August 26, featuring RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, who spoke to an audience about the organization's past accomplishments and its vision for the future.
Vision of a 'Vishwaguru'
In his address, Bhagwat emphasized the organization's goal of transforming India into a 'Vishwaguru' through its contributions, aiming to foster a sense of duty among all Hindus.
Key Messages from Bhagwat's Speech
– India as 'Vishwaguru'
Bhagwat articulated, "The foundation of the RSS is for Bharat, its operations are for Bharat, and its essence is rooted in India becoming a 'Vishwaguru'. The moment for India's global contribution has arrived."
– Cultural and Civilizational Unity
He remarked, "Hindavi, Bharatiya, and Sanatan are interconnected... These terms carry meaning beyond geography... Our DNA has remained unchanged for the past 40,000 years."
– Emphasizing Responsible Citizenship
Bhagwat stated that the RSS serves the entire Hindu community. "Anyone identifying as a Hindu must be a responsible citizen of the nation. This community has embraced this identity long ago."
– Engaging with Other Communities
The RSS plans to host various events nationwide to present a holistic view of the organization to society. At Vigyan Bhawan, Bhagwat discussed the theme "100 Years of RSS Journey: New Horizons," addressing misconceptions and reaching out to groups that have distanced themselves from the RSS.
– Honoring Revolutionary Figures
He noted, "There was a significant wave of revolutionaries whose examples continue to inspire us... The purpose of that revolution concluded post-independence. Savarkar ji was a shining example of that era... While that wave is no longer necessary, it served as an inspiration to live and sacrifice for the nation."
PM Modi's Tribute to RSS
On August 15, Prime Minister Narendra Modi remarked, "Today, I proudly acknowledge that 100 years ago, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh was established. A century of service to the nation is a proud chapter in our history. With the resolve of 'vyakti nirman se rashtra nirman', swayamsevaks have devoted their lives to the welfare of our motherland... In essence, the RSS is the largest NGO in the world, with a century-long legacy of dedication."
